Position: Benefits Verification Specialist – BVS
Location: Remote - U.S.
Pay Rate: $17.00 Per Hour

Schedule:

Training Shift: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (EST) | 1-hour unpaid lunch | Two (2) paid 15-minute breaksGo Live Shift: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (EST) | 1-hour unpaid lunch | Two (2) paid 15-minute breaksPOSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of an Operations Manager, the Benefits Verification Specialist will contact insurance companies to verify patient-specific benefits for programs we administer. The Benefits Verification Specialist will ask appropriate questions regarding patient benefits and complete data entry and/or appropriate forms to document patient benefit coverage.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reviews all patient insurance information needed to complete the benefit verification process.Triages cases with missing information to appropriate program associate.Verifies patient-specific benefits and precisely documents specifics for various payer plans including patient coverage, cost share, and access/provider options.Identifies any restrictions and details on how to expedite patient access.Documents and initiates prior authorization process, claims appeals, etc. as needed.Completes quality review of work as part of finalizing product.Reports any reimbursement trends/delays to management.Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED required.Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accounting, computer sciences, medical billing and coding, customer service or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a two-year associate's degree program, technical vocational training, or equivalent combination of experience and education.2+ Years Recent Experience REQUIRED in:Benefits VerificationHealth InsuranceMedical BillingData EntryA two-year degree can be used in lieu of 2 years of the experience requirement.MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Proficient Windows-based experience including fundamentals of data entry/typing - 60+ WPM preferredWorking knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel - REQUIREDStrong interpersonal skills and professionalism - handling 60+ inbound/outbound calls per dayIndependent problem solver, good decision maker, and robust analytical skillsStrong attention to detailEffective written and verbal communicationFamiliarity with verification of insurance benefits preferredFlexibility and ability to adapt to changing work situationsStrong customer service experience in a call center environmentWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work from home / remote office setting. Must have quiet workspace, reliable internet, and ability to work on camera.Sedentary physical activity requiring reaching, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking and hearing.Visual requirement is for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.75% or more time is spent looking directly at a computer.Ability to deal with stressful situations as they arise.Pay: $17.00 per year
