Community and Events Specialist (Part-Time)

The Down Syndrome Association of the Valley is seeking a Community & Events Specialist to lead the planning, promotion, and execution of impactful fundraising and community events. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven environment and enjoys building relationships while delivering meaningful, well-organized events.

What You’ll Do

Event Planning & Coordination

· Develop and manage event logistics and marketing from concept through completion

Coordinate logistics including vendors, venues, timelines, and materialsManage event budgets, track expenses, and secure necessary fundingDevelop and implement registration processes, sponsorship packages, and marketing materialsCommunity Engagement & Outreach

Build relationships with local community groups, organizations, and potential partnersPromote events through targeted marketing and communication effortsRecruit, coordinate, and support event volunteersStrengthen community awareness and participation in DSAV programsWhat We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or related fieldExperience in event planning, community engagement, or similar workStrong organizational and project management skillsExcellent communication and relationship-building abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesProficiency in Microsoft Office (experience with event tools a plus)Position can require frequent lifting and carrying of up to 35 poundsPositive and self-motivated- with enthusiasm for community engagementSchedule & Flexibility
