The Events Coordinator assists in planning and organizing events on behalf of the Hy-Vee corporate office. Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Responsible for planning, logistics, coordinating, and implementing various company-wide events in accordance with financial and time restraints • Research vendors and venues • Coordinate and compile information for various company awards • Responsible for the retirement program, planning and coordinating celebration events and gifts • Assists in scheduling, planning and implementing the corporate calendar of events • Track expenses related to event • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as needed • Reports to work when scheduled and on time Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics • Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company • Ability to work a variable work schedule • Excellent communication proficiency - verbal, written, and interpersonal • Organizational and multi-tasking skills • Highly organized and systematic thinker • Ability to work independently, lead a team, and work well in a team capacity • Must be able to project a professional manner and appearance, and communicate effectively with clients, staff and the general public • Computer proficiency: E-mail, Excel, Word, Outlook • Knowledgeable of standard office equipment and programs, including calculator, telephone, copier, fax, and PC with Microsoft Office programs Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College preferred; Two to three years related experience and/or hospitality management or public relations; or equivalent combination of education and experience The duties of this position are performed primarily in a general office setting, with frequent work at other venues.
