Mason Square Campus Administration and Operations, a division of Facilities and Campus Operations, is dedicated to delivering exceptional event experiences by providing comprehensive technical and operational support for conferences, meetings, and campus-wide events. The Office of Events Management at George Mason University's Mason Square (Arlington) campus is ready to hire (as in immediately) a Part-Time Event Assistant. You'll be busy. Responsibilities: • Verifies that all equipment requested for events is set in the exact manner as described on the set-up report - this will involve setting up tables and chairs and audio-visual equipment in accordance with reservation requests; • Operate and maintain a working knowledge of all audio-visual (A/V) systems in Mason Square event venues; • Verifies that Audio-Visual equipment is tested and fully operational before events begin; • Provide general A/V support for meetings, conferences, and events; • Responds to and troubleshoot minor technical issues and provide user support during an event when required; • Delivers timely and effective support to event clients, responding promptly to all requests; • Ensures accurate and on time fulfilment of table and equipment delivery requests; • Completes regular building checks to retrieve and return event signage and equipment to storage; • Maintains order in all storerooms and ensure that aisles and mechanical equipment areas are kept clear of equipment; • Ensures proper storage of Plaza furniture and Umbrellas in advance of inclement weather; • Assists management with event operations and execution requirements while ensuring compliance with Mason square venue polices; and • Identifies maintenance discrepancies and/or damages within event space and reports them to the Operations Manager. Required Qualifications: • Must be a high school graduate; • Possess outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with a diverse audience, including current university faculty and staff, alumni, donors, students, and the community; • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends; • Must be able to safely and independently move items up to 50 pounds; • Must have excellent verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; • Possesses a strong customer service, time management and organizational skillset with high attention to detail; and • Understanding of audio/visual equipment used to support events and multimedia applications, visual/audio hardware configuration, conference A/V set-ups, streaming platforms, and knowledge of electronics used to support events, and a willingness to learn new skills.
