Event Leader

Position: Part-Time Event Leader 

Effective: Fall 2026

Status: Part-time, nonexempt

Schedule: 10-20 hours per month (primarily weekends)

Reports to: Program Manager (of In-Person Events)

Location: Columbus, OH 

About Us: At Seeds of Caring, we believe in the power of kindness and the capacity for kids to change our world. We empower children ages 2 to 12 - our future leaders - to work for the change they want to see by engaging them in service, social action, and community-building. Our various in-person and anywhere volunteer projects enable families, schools, and other groups to nurture a commitment to kindness, build bridges across our community, and collectively work toward a brighter, better tomorrow. Seeds of Caring has been operating our programs successfully in the Central Ohio area since 2016, growing our impact from 280 child participants annually in year one of operations to over 50,000 last year. In March 2023, Seeds of Caring launched programming in our first expansion city of Indianapolis, IN, with more expansion cities on the horizon. 

Position summary: The Part Time Event Leader will execute Seeds of Caring programming focused on service, social action, and community-building events for kids ages 2-12—all with the goal of giving the Columbus area’s youngest generation meaningful and developmentally appropriate opportunities to create a kinder community with their hearts, hands, and minds. 

What you’ll do: You wi l work closely with Seeds of Caring’s program team & volunteers to manage Seeds of Caring’s In Person Programs. In this capacity, some things you wil work on include (but are not limited to):

● Lead Events: Leading 1-4 In Person community events in Central Ohio each month.

o Pick up event supplies from the office

o Receive any specific instructions related to the event via email

o Utilize standardized lesson plans provided

o Manage adult co-leaders and tween/teen Peer Leaders during events

o Encourage thoughtful discussion and empathic reflection with child participants, ages 2-12, and their grown ups.

o Foster positive relationships with nonprofit partner organizations/host locations

o Drop off event supplies and donations to the office and/or nonprofit partner organizations at the conclusion of the event

o Provide post event metrics and photos within 24 hours of event

o Represent Seeds of Caring in the community according to our core values

● Assist/Co-Lead Large Events: Provide support for Large Events like Earth Day, Martin Luther King Day of Youth Service, Holiday Acts of Kindness and/or corporate events as needed

About you: You should have a passion for working to help create a kinder community, love children, and have the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment. Qualifications and competencies we are looking for include:

● A degree (Associate's or higher) and/or 1-3 years' experience leading/teaching preschool or elementary-aged children

● Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong planning and time management skills

● Strong classroom management skills

● Proven ability to work collaboratively with others and establish ongoing relationships

● Outstanding customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills

● Proven ability to remain flexible and adaptable

● Comfortable speaking in front of groups and maintains a positive, engaging presence when leading programs  

● Schedule flexibility on weekends and occasional evenings

Supervisory Responsibility: manages Ambassadors

Schedule & Work Environment:

● This position is part time and wi l range from 10-20 hours per month.

● This position requires two or three weekends (Saturday 8am-5pm and Sunday 9am-5pm) of availability per calendar month, but the team member will generally only work up to two of their available weekends. Scheduling will work as follows:

○ Team member will provide 2-3 weekends of availability per calendar month twice a year. 

○ Seeds of Caring will let the team member know at least 30 days in advance which 1-2 weekends you’ll be working.

○ Weekday evening program requests wi l occur on an as needed basis with no assumed availability. Weekday evening events generally start after 4:30 pm and end by 8:30 pm.

● Team member will conduct their work on-site at various nonprofits, schools, community centers, libraries, places of business, etc. across the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area.

● Lifting boxes with program materials and other setup materials is required. The weight of the materials may be up to 40 pounds

● Team member is responsible for providing a phone

● Team member is responsible for providing a mid- to large-sized vehicle with cargo space for transportation.

Compensation & Benefits: At Seeds of Caring, we know that meaningful work starts with a supportive team. We’re committed to caring for our people so they can show up as their best selves. Here’s what we offer:

● The position is paid $20-22 per hour, depending on experience. Hours not to exceed 20 per month unless authorized by the Director of Programming & Operations

● Mileage between Seeds of Caring’s office and event location is reimbursed at standard IRS rates
