In this role, the Event Manager (EM) delves deep into understanding our clients' needs and aspirations for a diverse array of meetings, conferences, and events. Responsibilities include but are not limited to • Manage client projects for a variety of meetings, conferences and special events. • Participate in contract negotiations and evaluations with a variety of hotels and vendors. • Monitor timelines for each event • Provide customer service to client – building and developing professional relationships • Other duties as necessary to contribute to the overall success of the client and CI. Qualifications: • 3+ years’ experience in the meeting planning industry – previous experience with an association or membership organization a plus • 3+ years’ experience planning and monitoring budgets for events – must have excellent budgeting skills • Experience with contract negotiations with hotels and vendors • Strong proof-reading, oral and written communication skills • Excellent organizational skills • Comfortable working independently and in a team environment • Must be proficient with Word, Excel and Powerpoint • Must be available for LOCAL events (DC, MD & VA) at least once a month
