Event Operations Manager

**Overview:** The Event Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, organization, and management of events at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. The position oversees the operations of the Millennium Student Center building, Outdoor Space Events, and other event spaces on campus, providing excellent client service to both internal and external clients. **Responsibilities:** • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to cultivate and secure new clients and maintain existing clients • Promote and maximize the use of conference and event spaces and their associated services to clients • Supervise Student Event Managers, responsible for hiring, performance management, staff scheduling, staff training, and oversight of student work assignments • Coordinate internal and external client reservations, including audio-visual equipment, floor plans, room setups, furniture rental, and staffing needs • Initiate and maintain contact with non-university/external event clients, negotiate and monitor contracts, and provide complete "one stop" event management services • Manage project communications, ensuring that any issues, changes, or required components that impact the event are documented and addressed with key team members • Assist in coordinating usage and overseeing maintenance of key event management and venue scheduling software • Assist in managing the financial flow of event services, including monitoring deadlines for departmental and client billing • Responsible for the procurement of insurance certificates, permits, and/or other necessary paperwork for events • Develop and prepare marketing materials to expand clientele • Flexible to work nights and weekends to coordinate events and assist with facilitating onsite activities • Support the overall operation of Event Services and contribute to the organization's overall success • *Qualifications:** • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience • At least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired • Ability to work effectively in a team and fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines • Ability to work nights and weekends • *Benefits:** • Eligible for University benefits, including medical, dental, and vision plans, retirement, paid time off, short- and long-term disability, paid parental leave, paid caregiver leave, and educational fee discounts for all four UM System campuses • Comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees and their families • Equal Opportunity Employer
