The hotel is currently seeking an Event Planning Manager to join its dynamic and enthusiastic Events team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a leading hospitality brand in an energetic city setting. The Event Planning Manager will play a pivotal role in servicing Sales bookings and acting as a principal liaison between Meeting Planners and the hotel staff. Responsibilities include overseeing the execution of meeting and banquet events, administering Sales agreements, managing Food, Beverage, and Audio/Visual requirements, coordinating room blocks and pick-up, and handling billing processes and final reviews. The EPM will be on-site during events to ensure smooth operations, provide problem-solving solutions, and suggest alternatives as needed to exceed guest expectations. This role is also vital for fostering long-term relationships with meeting planners to drive future business through re-booking and effective up-selling strategies. • Minimum of 1-3 years hotel event planning experience
• Bachelor’s degree or 2 years hotel or food & beverage experience preferred
• Experience with general computer knowledge and software programs
• Desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
• Refined verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Professional appearance and confidence
• Extremely detail oriented and organized
• Ability to handle fast paced environment
• Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
• Understanding of contract negotiation and interpretation
• Comprehensive knowledge of hotel departments including guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audio visual, banquets, accounting, restaurants and engineering
• Demonstrated positive leadership qualities
• Knowledge of meeting room and sleeping room setups
• Ability to respond promptly to Meeting Planners
• Ability to create, review and revise rooming and VIP lists
• Manage meeting space to maximize revenue potential
• Maintain price integrity using revenue management
• Pre-check room setups prior to group arrival
• Relay accurate forecast information
• Interact with outside planners and vendors
• Manage and re-solicit accounts to capture future business
• Responsible for increasing revenue per attendee through upselling, room strategies and creative methods
• Experience creating and writing menus
• PSS or equivalent training preferred
