Event Production (On Site Crew Member)

WHO WE ARE:

Drape Art Designs is a woman-owned event decor company located in Rhode Island, specializing in custom drapery and lighting installations. We are a team of passionate creatives and craftspeople, driven by a shared love for design and events. We travel to beautiful venues and private residences throughout New England to install large-scale private and corporate events.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking creative individuals with a passion for design and event production. Previous experience or skill in areas of: event production, warehouse management, carpentry, electrical, fabric, and sewing are all appreciated. However, we welcome individuals with many different skill sets and a willingness to learn! A love for outdoors and hands on work is also a plus! This position is seasonal (September-January), with the opportunity for year round employment. Weekend and evening availability is required.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

As an On-Site Event Crew Member, you will be a key team member in the production of high-end event installations. You will be a generalist, working with the team in the warehouse, on the road, at job sites, ensuring all aspects of event installations go smoothly and efficiently. Drape Art Designs is a collaborative workplace, all employees are expected and required to assist others, as needed, regardless of their position.

Position Responsibilities:

- Load and unload vehicles accurately according to pack lists and staged goods.

- Organize and clean warehouse, perform maintenance, quality control, and repairs on inventory.

- Assemble new furniture and lighting items, as needed.

- Assist with event installs and breakdowns, including running tension wire, hanging chandeliers and string lights, hanging fabric installations, and moving furniture.

- Safely and neatly run electric, install dimmers, and troubleshoot power issues.

- Collaborate with team to troubleshoot any technical difficulties.

Required Qualifications:

- Positive attitude and team player, willing to accept constructive feedback.

- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs unassisted, stand/move for extended periods of time.

- Comfortable climbing ladders (6'-25') and safely working at heights.

- Valid Drivers License, reliable transportation, and clean driving record.

- Attention to detail and a creative eye.

- Critical thinking and problem solving.

- Able to work safely and efficiently under pressure.

- Read and understand layouts for lighting and rigging.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Live Event or related experience

- Comfortable driving long distances.

- Proficient in carpentry skills, with general knowledge of power tools, painting, electrical, and soldering a plus.

- Willing to travel frequently when overnights are required (lodging, hourly & per diem pay provided)

- Valid DOT Medical Card or willing to obtain.

- Valid Lift Certification or willing to obtain. (Experience operating lifts is a bonus!)

Pay: $24.00 - $35.00 per hour
