Secret Clearance Required AFWERX is seeking an Event Specialist to support the Lead Event Specialist in coordinating and managing specialized events, conferences, and functions. This role requires meticulous planning, attention to detail, effective communication, and IT skills to execute successful events. Responsibilities • Support planning high-quality engagements with industry, government, and academia stakeholders • Coordinate logistical aspects of events (venue selection, equipment rentals, transportation, catering, accommodations, audio-visual requirements) • Develop detailed event timelines and schedules • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers • Collaborate with AFWERX leadership and the Strategic Communications team to promote events • Ensure adherence to military protocol during official ceremonies and events • Participate in discussions and meetings for product development • Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans • Conduct post-event evaluations and gather feedback • Research, compile, and update event schedules Qualifications • Degree in event management, hospitality, communications, or related field, or 5+ years of experience planning and executing large events • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and event management software • Knowledge of military customs, traditions, and protocol (preferred) • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends • Ability to think critically, make decisions, and pay attention to detail • Proficiency in digital communication tools (Google Workspace) • Flexibility to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing priorities • Strong time management skills working under tight deadlines • Ability to work autonomously in a highly dispersed organization
