Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Assist in the preparation and implementation of large-scale events • Must be accountable, flexible, and adept at conflict resolution • Strong ability to perform job duties autonomously • Attentive to the care and safety of participants and guests during event hours, maintaining a safe environment, and addressing any safety concerns immediately • Work closely with other City departments, vendors, and community members for event support • Act as site supervisor during event hours and provide directions for contractors, vendors, volunteers, recreation staff, and participants as needed • Manage multiple tasks for event preparation and setup in areas of the recreation centers, as well as off-site parks • Responsible for purchasing and transporting equipment and supplies as necessary for events while following the budget requirements provided by the supervisor • Assist in and attends a variety of meetings, such as staff meetings and on-site event meetings with internal and external event partners • Complete large van driver training (provided by the City) and act as a van driver for transport event supplies • Performs other duties as assigned Ability to • Take direction from and work cooperatively with the Recreation Coordinator and to be able to take responsibility for the event tasks as assigned • Complete the reports and records required to meet the needs of the department • Handle emergency or crisis situations and perform emergency care if necessary • Handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy • Comprehend, interpret and apply regulations, policies, and procedures • Attend to details, multi-task and take initiative • Use independent judgment and decision-making within established policy • Work successfully in a team-oriented atmosphere that provides citizens and employees with accurate information • Work with participants needing event adaptation or reasonable accommodation • Communicate effectively with employees and various facility users in order to establish and maintain positive working relationships • Ensure assignments and duties of volunteers and staff are completed as prescribed • Work with a diverse population The hiring range for this position is $22.86 - $24.
