Job Summary
This position is a key member of the Animal Humane Team & is responsible for diverse tasks in support of Marketing, Promotions & Stewardship, including event planning & execution; media appearance planning & scheduling; strategic outreach & planning for Animal Humane Programs, Thrift Shop & The Pet Resource Center.
Responsibilities
Development & coordination of Animal Humane’s Marketing events (with lead on Doggie Dash & Dawdle, Feline Fiesta), to include planning, timelines, permitting, budgeting & tracking expenditures; coordination & execution of all logistics; prospect & coordinate sponsor & vendor solicitation & communication; preparing pre- & post-event reports with related income, expenses & effectiveness in effort.
Create & manage organizational eBlasts, including Marketing’s E&O, DYK, Curio Corner (Thrift Shop), Doggie Dash & Dawdle, Feline Fiesta, etc, while coordinating annual eBlast schedule with Development Team.
Lead in customer service inquiries with emails & phones calls related to events, in a professional & prompt manner, with the public, partners, donors, volunteers & colleagues.
Work closely in collaboration with Marketing Director to:
Develop marketing briefs for Animal Humane Programs, Thrift Shop & The PRC Identify, cultivate, solicit, manage & steward event vendors & artisans.
Identify & cultivate financial or in-kind event sponsors with event-sponsor committees.
Prepare & distribute sponsor & vendor solicitations & communications for all events.
Lead coordinator, scheduler & on-air person for media appearances, including radio, TV & Live Streaming; train & schedule Adoption Advisers for on-air media appearances.
Prepare/update/coordinate Communication Plan Calendar, along with the Marketing Director & Development Team, for ongoing & annual organizational events, including adoptions promotions, Pet Health Fairs, Main Campus, Thrift Shop, Westside & The Center anniversaries & planned activities for Outreach, Foster Care & Marketing in coordination with the organization’s Strategic Communication Plan.
Develop committee/sub-committee structures to ensure successful implementation of fundraising events & initiatives, including working with Volunteer Manager, Community Support Programs Manager & The Board of Directors on event crew planning & needs.
Write copy & social media posts for events as needed in coordination with the Digital Coordinator & backread/proofread all social media posts for Digital Coordinator.
Research existing & new vendors to ensure Animal Humane is receiving the best pricing on event needs.
Present & implement fresh ideas to build engagement & partnership interest to increase event revenue.
Manage Marketing Interns as assigned.
Help to ensure the organization is promoted effectively, positively & consistently.
Job Conditions
This is a part-time, exempt position requiring flexible working hours that includes evening & weekend hours throughout the year. Valid driver’s license & access to a reliable vehicle year-round is required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Job Requirements
· Advanced degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, business or related field preferred; 3+ years of directly related experience required. Nonprofit experience a plus.
Microsoft Office & Internet skills required.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign & Photoshop), Constant Contact, Social Media (FaceBook & Instagram)
Back-end website & Race Roster experience a plus.
Possess excellent written, oral & public communications skills.
Have outstanding time management & organizational skills
Strong work ethic, creativity & passion for field.
Ability to work effectively on an intra- & inter-departmental level.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to work independently & within a team.
Ability to multi-task, work rapidly & meet deadlines under pressure
