About Utah Valley Refugees

Utah Valley Refugees is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Utah County. UVR resettles refugees through its affiliate Church World Services, and helps them access education, healthcare, employment and housing. Their mission is to empower refugees in their quest to achieve self-reliance.

Position Description

We are looking for reliable volunteers to help plan and coordinate Utah Valley Refugees events (fundraisers, community outreach and education events, and refugee activities). The purpose of these events is to share about UVR's mission and work, build community, and engage volunteers, donors, and community partners. This person would work with the community development director to help execute events for UVR.

Minimum Qualifications

Available on weekends and evenings as needed for events (usually around once a month) for 2-5 hours
Available for weekly planning meetings at the UVR office
Reliable access to transportation
Previous experience with event planning and coordination
Available to volunteer for 6 months or more

Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work proactively within a team as well as independently
Self starter, able to think creatively to solve problems

Background Check Requirement

All volunteers are required to provide a Utah BCI background check prior to working as a volunteer. A federal background check may also be required based on the volunteer position.
