Head of School - Montessori

The new Head needs to be an inspiring and motivated educational executive who will be a dynamic presence at the school and a respected voice in independent education with the political and diplomatic sensibilities to guide the Desert Montessori School community in a shared mission. Desert Montessori is a Teacher- Led school, which means that major decisions must be approved by the staff before implementation. \\--Values all staff voices, wisdom and input -Oversees all student discipline matters and communication with families as it pertains to student behaviors -Supervises all staff -Provides professional leadership for faculty and staff. -Supervises and participates in selecting and hiring of properly-qualified persons to serve as members of the faculty (alongside Hiring Committee) \\--New hire training and orientation -Oversees school culture and strives to create a positive work environment -Create and maintain a working sub list to ensure high quality coverage in teachers' absence. -Works with Board and staff to execute events -Works with staff, and Board on strategic planning to ensure future success and longevity of the school Required Experience and Skills: -Bachelor's degree required in a related field (Education/Administration) -Montessori training (AMS or AMI preferred) -Minimum of three (3) years Montessori teaching experience -Minimum of three (3) years school director or administrative experience -Demonstrated ability to lead teacher trainings -Ability to oversee Montessori curriculum from ages 2-12 -Comfort building and maintaining high level of academic programming -Ability to track program success and progress and make changes as necessary -Strong computer skills -Ability to use Google Office -High level of written and verbal communication skills -Ability to learn new software and computer apps -Excellent interpersonal skills -Dedicated to learning, following, and improving the teacher-led model of the school -Excellent conflict management skills -Exceptionally detail-oriented with the proven ability to handle numerous tasks with appropriate follow-up while not losing sight of the big picture -Work well with others, including an ability to establish and maintain rapport with internal and external contacts in a professional environment -Strong diplomacy skills and professionalism are mandatory; this includes the ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion at all times -Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as strong writing and proofreading abilities -Experience with task prioritizing and a demonstrated ability to work successfully and considerably under pressure with multiple responsibilities on tight deadlines -Strong self motivation and self initiative; ability to take direction as well as work independently and with minimal supervision on multiple projects -Experience planning and executing community and fundraising events -Ability to work in a team environment -Must have or be willing to immediately get training recognized by ECECD to be the licensed Director.
