About blumbru

blumbru is a chef-led mobile coffee and matcha atelier creating considered beverage experiences for brand activations, corporate events, productions, weddings, and private gatherings throughout Los Angeles and Southern California.

We care deeply about the drink, but what matters just as much is how someone feels while receiving it.

Our approach is rooted in thoughtful hospitality, curiosity, craft, and attention to detail. We believe great service means knowing when to engage, when to educate, when to simply listen, and how to make every guest feel genuinely taken care of.

The Role

We're looking for experienced baristas who are naturally hospitable, curious about people, and comfortable working in changing event environments.

This is a mobile event role rather than a traditional café position. You'll work at different locations throughout Los Angeles, serving coffee, matcha, and specialty beverages at brand activations, corporate events, productions, weddings, and private gatherings.

Some guests may want to learn about matcha. Others may ask about the coffee or a specialty drink. Some simply want their latte and to continue enjoying the event.

Being able to read those moments is part of the job.

You'll be responsible for:

Preparing espresso, coffee, matcha, and specialty beverages to blumbru standards
Providing warm, attentive, and thoughtful guest service
Engaging naturally with guests and answering questions about beverages
Dialing in espresso and maintaining consistency throughout service
Steaming milk to proper temperature and texture
Producing consistent latte art
Maintaining a clean, organized, and presentation-ready bar
Working calmly and efficiently during high-volume service
Following event-specific recipes, menus, and presentation standards
Assisting with event setup and breakdown
Taking ownership of your station and noticing what needs attention without always being asked

Who We're Looking For

Hospitality matters as much as technical ability.

You should be naturally warm and curious about people, reliable and punctual, calm during busy service, detail-oriented, open to feedback, and someone who takes ownership of their role.

Barista Experience & Skills

At least 1 year of professional barista experience is required.

We're looking for a strong foundation in espresso preparation, milk technique, latte art, and service rather than specialty coffee credentials.

You should be comfortable with:

Espresso dose, yield, and basic grinder adjustments
Proper milk temperature and texture
Producing consistent latte art, including at minimum a tulip
Working cleanly and efficiently behind the bar
Following recipes accurately and consistently

Specialty coffee experience is welcome, but not required.

Matcha experience is a plus, we'll train you on blumbru's preparation and service standards.

Schedule & Requirements

This is an event-based role with changing locations and schedules based on blumbru's event calendar.

Accepted event engagements have a 4-hour minimum. Events may take place on weekdays, early mornings, early evenings, and weekends throughout Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

Reliable transportation to changing event locations is required. You should also be comfortable standing for extended periods, assisting with setup and breakdown, and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs when needed.

We're looking for baristas with flexible availability who can reliably commit to the events they accept.

Compensation & Engagements

Base rate: $21/hour + event gratuity

Accepted event engagements have a 4-hour minimum, providing at least $84 in base compensation per event.

Events include a share of gratuity distributed among the event service team through blumbru's Hospitality Service. A typical gratuity share may add approximately $50–$75+ per team member, depending on the event and team size.

For example, a typical eligible 4-hour event may provide approximately $134–$159+ in total compensation, including the $84 base and gratuity share.

Events are offered based on blumbru's event calendar and your availability. There is no guaranteed number of events or hours, and you may accept or decline individual opportunities.

Paid training is provided.

The blumbru Standard

We don't expect perfection on day one.

We do expect curiosity, care, accountability, and a willingness to learn.

Our goal is for every guest to leave feeling connected, educated, impressed, and taken care of.

If you care about both what you serve and how you make people feel, we'd like to meet you.
