Job Description The Programming and Events Manager oversees event and program management, collaborating with user groups to plan and execute events, supervising staff, delivering outstanding customer service to both internal and external user groups, managing budgets, coordinating the planning and execution of programs and events, and ensuring compliance with safety and risk management policies and procedures. Typical Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in hospitality, communications, public relations or directly related field and three years of event booking and/or event planning and coordination experience with a convention center or similar venue OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Licensing and Certifications: Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire Preferred Qualifications: CPR/First Aid and AED certification Additional Information Knowledge of: Principles and practices of project or program administration and management Principles and methods of qualitative and quantitative research Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations (based on assignment) Customer service principles Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment Skill in: Collaborating, developing partnerships, and working effectively as a member of a fast-paced, results-oriented team with excellent written and verbal communication Working autonomously with initiative, critical and creative thinking to gather data, analyze findings and apply logic and reason to a solution Coordinating deadlines, prioritizing work demands and assigning/monitoring work performed Authoring and preparing original reports, documents and presentations Monitoring project schedules, status and compliance Organizing and maintaining documentation, schedules, records and files Providing excellent customer service Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications, including Office 365 Effective organizational, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction ADA and Other Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
