Resource Development Director

Position Description: The Resource Development Director (RDD) will work closely with Tiny Trees’ Executive Director (ED) to raise philanthropic funds that support Tiny Trees programs serving children and families in nine outdoor classrooms in Seattle and King County. Key Responsibilities: 30% Individual Giving ● Partner with ED to implement and refine portfolio-based major gifts and annual giving programs, including robust moves management and stewardship activities ● Oversee major gifts program and support ED in managing major donor portfolio and cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities ● Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of annual donors giving below $1,000 ● Oversee implementation of multi-channel annual giving campaigns including online giving initiatives and appeals ● Partner with the marketing and communications intern and ED to articulate a compelling case for support that centers on the client experience and is emotionally rich ● Prioritize donor retention and leverage cultivation and stewardship opportunities to build the major donor pipeline ● Manage monthly giving program, increasing enrollment and renewals ● Research and analyze donor trends in order to make strategic and continuous improvement recommendations ● Attend and leverage program-driven engagement and tours as points of entry for new base and mid-level donors 30% Department Management, Fundraising Strategy & Board ● Motivate, coach, mentor and support all members of the Resource Development Department, including the Special Projects Manager, contracted grant writer, contracted event planner and Communications Intern(s) ● Support team members’ success, goal attainment and ongoing professional development; ensure philanthropy team members have the expertise, tools and infrastructure necessary to achieve success, individually and collectively ● Nurture a culture of collaboration and communication between the resource development team and all staff ● Partner with the ED to develop and implement an annual fundraising plan and calendar ● Partner with ED to guide budget process for the Resource Development Department portion of Tiny Trees’ fundraising and communications expense budget and revenue strategy ● Oversee management of Salesforce donor and prospect database ● Support Board of Directors and other volunteer leaders in fundraising activities including pitch practice, major donor stewardship, corporate giving asks and other activities ● Work with ED, the Board and program staff members to strengthen Tiny Trees’ philanthropic culture, advising staff, volunteers and Board on activities they can actively advance to create the strongest possible culture of philanthropy ● Partner with Tiny Trees’ fundraising committee and the entire Board to to identify, cultivate, solicit, close, and steward individual giving, corporate and funding support ● Expertly cultivate Board and committee relationships to strengthen fundraising partnerships and participation ● Contribute to Board processes and decisions by applying a fund development, philanthropic culture, community engagement and anti-racist lens ● Provide and oversee the framework for Board fundraising training and activities to achieve fundraising goals 15% Event Planning ● Work with Tiny Trees’ Board, event chair, ED, and contracted event planner to conceive and drive strategy and vision for client/community-centered annual event. ● As the individual giving program grows, work with the Board and fundraising committee to host awesome major donor cultivation events and gatherings; leverage classroom tours to increase donor education and engagement ● Serve as lead solicitor and steward for corporate sponsor relationships 10% Grant Writing ● Work with contracted grant writer to execute grants portion of our fundraising plan, writing grants as needed ● Regularly research restricted and unrestricted grant opportunities for federal and state government grants/contracts, private foundations and corporate support ● Partner with ED to manage institutional funding relationships, ensuring strong cultivation and stewardship of all funders 10% Communication Strategy ● Lead communication strategy (public relations, social media and giving) ● Oversee print and online publications including annual reports, donor newsletters, and website ● Supervise a communications intern who will implement Tiny Trees’ social media and marketing outreach ● Partner with ED, Board and branding consultant to develop key messages and ensure alignment of fundraising outreach messaging 5% Program Support (so you can tell a good Tiny Trees classroom story!) ● Able to work independently and collaboratively.
