Special Events and Marketing Coordinator

This will require them to assist with marketing of programs, events, and services, boosting community engagement and brand presence online and offline as well as design and run special event programming for the recreational enjoyment of the community. Qualified, civic-minded individuals are encouraged to apply.Job DetailsWhat is the compensation?Pay Rate: (G24, G25, G27) $22.53 - $35.96 per hourWhat will I do?Coordinate a wide range of community and in house events for the Provo Recreation Center and Provo City (including employee events and functions), such as the New Year's Countdown, Pioneer Day Celebration, Halloween Carnival, Women's Day, Movies in the Park, and a wide variety of other events.Develop registration forms, policies, and practices in collaboration with operations staff.Set dates, times, rules, and prices for community events and programs, as appropriate.Coordinate sponsorships with local businesses.Respond to citizens' needs, requests, and complaints.Coordinate with Purchasing Office to put out bids for supplies, and order supplies and purchase program-specific materials in accordance with established budgets.Track expenses and assist in preparing budget and making recommendations for programs and for materials not covered under existing budgets.Coordinate photos, videos, and social media reels for events and programs.Post event notices and updates across platforms including sharing event details with partners and posting updates to local resources.Respond to social media inquiries professionally.Create digital, print, and graphic materials aligned with brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across all platforms.Develop and execute creative marketing campaigns to highlight programs and services.Manage and schedule social media content, track performance, and provide insights for improvement.Supervise part-time employees and volunteers working on events and programs.Assist in the recruitment, evaluation, and training of staff and volunteers.Evaluate assigned programs and provide informational feedback to supervisors regarding participation level and program effectiveness compared to program costs.Find solutions and solve problems to improve the Recreation Division.Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days, and an extended numbers of days.Assist other staff members and the public as needed and perform other related duties as required.What are the minimum requirements?All levels require a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and a valid, lawful Driver License.Coordinator II:1 year of experience in recreational program management.Coordinator III:3 years of experience in recreational program management.NRPA Parks and Recreation Professional Certificate.At all levels, equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for each other (1 year of post-secondary education/training for 6 months of experience).What is the selection process?Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on April 7, 2025. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
