Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of the communities served by BREC • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing and speaking • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills • Strong customer service skills, ability to deal with the public with tact and courtesy and resolve conflicts with employees, co-workers, volunteers and patrons • Skill in the using a computer, and standard office software which includes MS Office, databases and presentation programs • Good math skills and ability to perform basic accounting/budgeting functions • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments • Ability to supervise and direct the work of others • Ability to quickly learn BREC policies, procedures, and department programs • Ability to maintain effective working relations with departmental staff, representatives of public & private interest groups, news media, the public & officials of other agencies Essential Functions: • Create strategic plan and establish goals for the Special Event program • Stay current on significant developments, trends and best practices in special event planning • Maintain current list of upcoming events; provides to numerous media sources according to established schedule. • Maintains clipping files and charts results of special events and activities • Works with Communications Marketing Manager to create paid advertising, social media posts and web posts regarding special events (before and after each event) • Assists in managing the budgets for special event supplies and paid advertising • Supervises interns and volunteers during events • Other duties as assigned This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.
