Under the direction of the Events Manager, the Special Events Planner performs a variety of routine administrative and technical duties as needed to coordinate the day-to-day operations of events or programs for Millcreek City. • Plan, coordinate, and implement activities as needed to ensure timely delivery of scheduled special events and programs. • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Working knowledge of the methods and techniques of developing and operating special events and programs; of the philosophy and objectives of community special events and programs; of community and public relations; of creative thinking and problem-solving abilities; of equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in comprehensive community recreation special events and programs; and of the operation of personal computers and various software applications including spreadsheets, word processing, etc. Ability to schedule special events; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, various age groups, other organizations, and the public; to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to stay organized. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and / or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
