Student Event Manager

Monday thru Sunday 7:00am-10:30pm

Hourly Salary
$15.00/hour

Duties

Oversee the completion of room set-up, take-down, and change-over duties required per the standards of the set-up reports and/or diagrams provided.
Maintain the cleanliness by vacuuming floors, taking out trash, and disinfecting the event spaces after each event.
Deliver a “customer first” approach in a busy environment with multiple demands.
Prepare conference rooms, meeting rooms, and internal/external building areas for various events via setting up audio/visual equipment while using critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Troubleshoot audio/visual equipment requested so that any problems are resolved before events begin.
Be prepared to assist customers should any unanticipated problems occur throughout the event.
Secure all equipment and rooms at the end of each event.
Assist in the development of new Student Event Managers.
Communicate observations and provide appropriate feedback both verbally and in writing to full-time staff.
Anticipate, maintain awareness, and be attentive of the client’s needs.

Experience

Must possess a positive and friendly disposition, flexibility, and good communication skills (oral & written).
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational and leadership skills.
Must be enrolled at the University of Missouri-St. Louis at least half-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate and 5 credit hours for graduate). Enrollment in the summer session is not required as long as the student was enrolled in the spring semester and will enroll for the fall semester.
Must have and maintain a minimum 2.3 cumulative and semester GPA (semester and cumulative 3.0 GPA for graduate students).
Requires the individual to lift items up to 50 pounds, with more lifting done in pairs.
Ability to work primarily nights and weekends with occasional daytime hours.
