Worth, TX - Managed by Staff in Austin (HQ)Classification: Marketing Specialist IV – 1825FLSA Status: ExemptOverviewThe Event Planner will coordinate and oversee the strategic planning of all special events and conferences for the Food and Nutrition Division (F&N) of the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). Responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for planning and implementing public events that support federal nutrition programs, providing advanced consultative services, and working independently with limited supervision.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement conferences, special events, and exhibits, managing resources and schedules.Manage and track budgets for events and exhibits.Oversee contract development and implementation, including vendor management and invoice approval.Lead cross-functional teams to ensure successful event execution, including staffing and logistics.Create evaluation methods, analyze feedback, and recommend improvements.Communicate updates to stakeholders.Coordinate display concepts and designs for events and exhibits.Research and select exhibit sites, coordinate setup, and represent TDA at booths.Adhere to TDA policies and perform additional duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree; one year of relevant work experience may substitute for one year of college.Three years of experience in event planning, coordination, and management.Experience with event registration software and contract/vendor oversight.Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.Preferred QualificationsExperience creating original exhibit designs and event concepts.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of event and exhibit operations, applicable laws, public administration, budgeting, research techniques, and program management. Skills in customer service, performance measurement, computer software, and effective communication. Ability to analyze facts, solve problems, develop policies, and maintain confidentiality.Physical Requirements & Working ConditionsNormal office environment, some exposure to dust/allergens, sedentary with walking, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, and extended computer use. Travel up to 35%, including occasional overnight stays.Work Hours & TeleworkOn-site work only; no telework offered.
