VENUE MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Playing a vital role on the 828 team, the Venue Manager at UNION is accountable for delivering monthly sales targets across all venue revenue streams, as well as the overall success of the venue. The Venue Manager oversees and manages the client relationship from initial inquiry through event day to ensure a positive brand image & seamless event experience. This role oversees revenue and cost management and leads the local team across staffing, property operations, sales, in-house services, and venue communications.

The Venue Manager will report to 828 Venue Management Company’s Director of Venue Operations to ensure company packages and service workflows are operating efficiently while maintaining exceptional profit margins and managing local relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Deliver against monthly sales targets for space, planning, goods & decor, and beverage
• Oversee the sales cycle from client inquiry to final booking, including prospecting
• Network with local vendors and local professional groups to identify opportunities for new events, competition, and market trends
• Onsite for tours, events, walkthroughs and Walkthrough Wednesdays, and rehearsals
• Host team meetings to discuss event schedules, client interactions, and workflows
• Partner with 828 Venue Management Company Marketing & Sales to ensure information about the local market is appropriately understood to ensure optimal local marketing & sales execution
• Ensure prompt, friendly service according to company guidelines, including response to client and company emails within one business day
• Leverage CRM and event management software to execute and manage client services, appropriate internal & external event forms & deliverables, and employee documents
• Hire, train, and manage all venue staff, including scheduling all shifts, managing and approving PTO, payroll, and learning & development
• Perform regular venue observations and walkthroughs to address cleanliness, wear & tear, repairs and maintenance; replenish supplies inventories as needed
• Act as the venue liaison between local vendors and the venue team regarding policy questions, Epic Vendor list, marketing partnerships, etc.
• Handle client or guest complaints, excessive cleaning/damage fees, vendor concerns, and venue staff questions as needed, including on non-scheduled event days
• Complete ad hoc requests and/or projects from other 828 Venue Management Company departments
• Cross-Venue Support: Ad-hoc tasks and support at other 828 Venue Management Company venues in the market, including assisting with sales efforts, events, or operations as needed.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Preferred experience in event sales, venue operations, and coordination, with strong knowledge of beverage service practices.
• Ability to crowd control, and regularly mediate stressful situations
• Availability on evenings, weekends, and Wednesdays (team office day) required
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Google Applications knowledge
• Appropriate and up-to-date local alcohol certification(s) required
• Embraces new technologies and softwares
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to troubleshoot problems with immediate resources, multi-task, and delegate
• Passion for and ability to recruit, develop, manage and motivate team members
• Must have reliable transportation, cell phone and working computer
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must wear professional business attire during events
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• A minimum of 40 hours per week is expected; as Venue Manager, flexibility and responsiveness outside of standard business hours may be needed
COMPENSATION:
• Base salary, paid bi-monthly, determined by experience
• Position is eligible for monthly incentives
• Percentage coverage of company offered health insurance plans
• Relocation reimbursement is not offered
