About the Position

Rani Events & Co. is looking for dependable, hardworking individuals to join our wedding décor crew on an event-by-event basis. We already have confirmed wedding dates for the fall season, along with additional events scheduled for the spring.

This is a hands-on role involving the loading, transportation, installation, takedown, and organization of wedding décor. We are hiring both general crew members and experienced candidates who can take on a lead role during installations.

No two events are exactly the same, so we need team members who are flexible, work well under pressure, and take pride in creating beautiful event spaces.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

Loading décor, tools, and equipment from our Durham storage units into trucks later in the week, typically on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday evenings
Traveling with the team to wedding venues, primarily in the Raleigh and Charlotte areas
Unloading trucks and organizing décor items at the venue
Installing drapery, backdrop structures, acrylic stage panels, faux floral arrangements, furniture, and other décor elements
Following design plans and instructions to ensure each setup is completed correctly and on time
Safely handling, protecting, and organizing décor inventory
Returning to the venue after the event for late-night takedown
Disassembling décor and reloading the trucks
Traveling back to Durham and unloading inventory into the storage units
Assisting with inventory checks and ensuring items are returned to their proper locations

Candidates considered for a lead position may also be responsible for reviewing setup plans, directing crew members, assigning tasks, monitoring the installation timeline, solving problems onsite, and confirming that the setup matches the approved design.

Schedule and Availability

This is not a traditional 9:00 AM–5:00 PM position. Work is scheduled around wedding and venue timelines and may include:

Weekday evening truck loading
Early-morning setup calls
Long weekend shifts
Split shifts between setup and takedown
Late-night or overnight takedowns
Multi-day wedding weekends
Travel requiring an overnight hotel stay

A typical wedding weekend may include a 12–17-hour event day, followed by unloading and returning inventory to storage the next day. Hours vary significantly by event, and applicants must be comfortable with an event-based schedule.

Confirmed dates and expected hours will be shared with the team as early as possible. Because this is contract-based work, hours are not guaranteed every week.

Travel, Accommodations and Meals

For events requiring overnight travel, Rani Events & Co. will provide hotel accommodations for the décor crew.

Meals will either be provided directly by the company or covered through a meal per diem when meals are not otherwise provided.

If a team member is required to use their personal vehicle to travel to and from a wedding venue, mileage will be reimbursed at the current IRS standard mileage rate. This mileage reimbursement is intended to cover gas and other vehicle-related travel expenses.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

Is dependable, punctual, and responsive
Is available to work weekends, including early mornings and late nights
Is comfortable performing physically demanding work for extended periods
Can safely lift and carry approximately 50 pounds
Can stand, bend, climb, and move throughout long setup and takedown shifts
Works efficiently and maintains a positive attitude under time constraints
Pays close attention to detail and follows instructions well
Works respectfully and professionally around clients, vendors, venues, and other crew members
Has reliable transportation to and from our Durham storage location
Is comfortable traveling to venues throughout North Carolina and occasionally beyond
Is willing to learn how to install and safely handle specialty décor pieces

Experience with wedding décor, event production, construction, carpentry, floral installation, draping, warehousing, moving, or team leadership is preferred but not required for general crew positions.

Compensation

Starting compensation is $20 per hour, with flexibility based on relevant experience, installation skills, and the ability to supervise or lead a décor crew.

This is an event-based contract position. When applicable, overnight hotel accommodations, meals or a meal per diem, and mileage reimbursement at the current IRS standard mileage rate will be provided.
