Job Description
Alabama State University invites applications for the position of Director of Operations and Events Management within the Division of the Chief of Staff. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this position provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for university facilities, event operations, and support services.

The Director is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, including facility management, maintenance oversight, event execution, and building services, while ensuring efficiency, safety, and exceptional service delivery. This role supports large-scale institutional events and revenue-generating activities and serves as a key leader in advancing the University's operational and event management goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and oversight for university operations and events management, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and standards
• Supervise housekeeping, custodial services staff, and contracted service providers to ensure facilities are maintained at the highest standards
• Oversee technical and operational functions for major event facilities, including the Dunn-Oliver Acadome, ASU Stadium, and the John Garrick Hardy Student Center
• Serve as the Executive Director's designee in their absence, assuming full operational authority for Operations and Event Management
• Assist the Executive Director in all operations of the ASU Stadium, including athletic events, game-day operations, and external events, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures
• Ensure all event facilities are safe, functional, and conducive to efficient operations through routine inspections and proactive maintenance oversight
• Coordinate with Facilities Management to ensure all utility systems and infrastructure are fully operational
• Collaborate with the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Compliance to develop and implement emergency preparedness and safety protocols for all facilities
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with contractors, vendors, and local/state officials to support inspections, compliance, and operational excellence
• Develop and implement strategic initiatives to maximize facility usage and generate revenue, with an emphasis on high-demand venues such as the ASU Stadium
• Lead long-range planning for facility maintenance, capital improvements, and asset management, including preventative maintenance programs
• Assist in the development and management of annual operating budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic priorities
• Enforce facility use policies, agreements, and university regulations to ensure compliance and accountability
• Oversee event operations to ensure successful execution, including staffing, logistics, and service delivery
• Support marketing and business development efforts to promote university facilities and attract external clients and partnerships
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Business Administration, Business Management, Hospitality Management, Public Administration, or a related field, minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, operations, or event management, including supervision of administrative and support staff for large-scale public events, demonstrated leadership experience in managing complex operations and event environments, valid driver's license with an insurable driving record, and be available to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as required
