The Mountain Oyster Club, a private members-only club established in 1948 and located in Tucson’s historic Pond Mansion, is seeking a polished, organized, and service-minded Event Manager to help lead our member and member-sponsored events.

MOC is known for its Southwestern and Western heritage, distinguished art collection, strong wine program, and warm private-club hospitality. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building relationships with members, communicating event details clearly, leading service staff on the floor, and making each event feel personal, smooth, and memorable.

This is not a behind-the-desk-only event role. The right candidate will be equally comfortable creating BEOs, updating banquet menus with Chef, supervising banquet staff, walking a room before guests arrive, helping with service when needed, and following through on billing, linens, AV, and post-event details.

What You’ll Do

· Plan and coordinate member and member-sponsored events from inquiry through execution and follow-up.

· Serve as a key point of contact for members regarding event details, timelines, menus, room setup, staffing needs, and special requests.

· Create and maintain BEOs, event notes, room diagrams, timelines, and internal communication.

· Work closely with Chef and the culinary team to keep banquet menus current and event-ready.

· Directly supervise banquet/event staff, including servers, bussers, bartenders, and hosts.

· Conduct pre-shift and pre-event meetings to review service standards, timing, assignments, and member expectations.

· Oversee event setup, service, breakdown, and reset.

· Serve as floor manager/manager-on-duty during assigned restaurant operations and events.

· Manage linen inventory and linen orders.

· Manage AV inventory and event equipment readiness.

· Coordinate art committee/gallery events and other member functions.

· Handle event billing and payment collection.

· Assist with the Club’s wine locker program and beverage inventory.

· Provide hands-on service support when needed.

What We’re Looking For Required:

· Professional hospitality, restaurant, catering, banquet, or event experience.

· Strong member/client communication skills.

· Ability to supervise event staff and provide clear on-floor direction.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and event-based shifts.

· Comfortable using basic administrative and hospitality software.

· Willingness to provide hands-on service support when the operation needs it.

· Professional appearance, discretion, reliability, and a hospitality-first attitude.

· Ability to stay organized and calm in a fast-paced, member-facing environment.

Strongly Preferred

· 5+ years of experience in fine dining, private clubs, upscale restaurants, catering, hotels, or comparable hospitality/event environments.

· 2+ years of management or supervisory experience.

· Private club experience.

· Strong service, food, wine, beer, spirits, and cocktail knowledge.

· Experience with BEOs, event software, POS systems, reservation systems, Microsoft Office/Excel, Outlook, and Canva.

· Arizona Title 4 alcohol training.

· Food handler card or ServSafe certification.

· Valid driver’s license.

Experience matters more than formal education. We are looking for someone who understands service, follow-through, communication, and the details that make private-club events successful.

Schedule

This is a full-time position averaging approximately 40 hours per week.

The Club operates primarily Tuesday through Saturday. The Event Manager should expect to work a mixture of day and evening shifts, primarily Tuesday-Saturday, with Sunday/Monday availability as needed for special events. This position must be available when assigned events are taking place, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when applicable.
