With a focus on enhancing the hospitality experience and supporting industry growth, MRLA works collaboratively with its subsidiary and affiliated entities, including the Michigan Hospitality Foundation (MHF) and a Political Action Committee (PAC), to promote the health and development of the state's restaurant and lodging sectors. The Events Manager is tasked with planning and executing varying types of events including annual PAC fundraising, statewide Women in Hospitality Leadership (WIHL) conferences, and regular board meetings. The position requires physical involvement in event setup and execution, with duties including lifting and transporting event materials, negotiating room blocks and vendor contracts, and working flexibly across a hybrid work environment that combines office and remote workdays. • Basic reading and writing skills • Knowledge of mathematics and science typical of high school education • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • Ability to express value of MRLA membership clearly • Warm and positive interpersonal skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite • Experience with CRM software • Ability to manage time and respond to direction effectively • Professional image and maturity • Ability to work in hybrid environment with three days in office and two remote • Physical ability to lift 25-50 pounds and perform repetitive motions associated with event logistics • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays • Ability to travel locally and out-of-town • Capacity to handle events in varying environmental conditions
