The Red Room at Cafe 939 Promotion/Marketing Assistant plays an important role in maximizing visibility and building audiences for events hosted there.

Working as part of the venue's marketing team, student employees support the promotion of concerts and events through social media, digital content, graphic materials, grassroots promotion, artist communication, and other marketing initiatives.

This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced, deadline-driven live entertainment environment. The work produced by our student team represents The Red Room and Berklee to artists, managers, agents, event partners, and the public.

Students in this role are expected to be reliable, communicative, organized, creative, and proactive. While supervisors provide direction and support, successful Marketing Assistants take ownership of their responsibilities, identify work that needs to be done, contribute ideas, and follow projects through to completion.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
------------------------------------------

* Create posters, social graphics, and other visual marketing materials.
* Create and maintain social media content promoting upcoming events, including posts, stories, short-form video, and other platform-appropriate content.
* Attend select Red Room events to capture photo and video content.
* Edit and organize photo and video content for use across social and digital platforms.
* Post events to appropriate online calendars, event-listing sites, and community resources.
* Communicate professionally with artists, managers, agents, event leaders, and planners before shows to gather marketing materials and coordinate promotional efforts.
* Assist in developing marketing strategies for individual events based on the artist, audience, ticket sales, and promotional opportunities.
* Monitor ticket sales and work with supervisors to identify events that may require additional promotional support.
* Help identify businesses, organizations, student groups, and community partners that may provide relevant promotional opportunities.
* Brainstorm and pitch creative content and promotional ideas rather than relying solely on assigned tasks.
* Maintain organized project files, marketing materials, content, and other departmental resources.
* Keep supervisors informed of project status, completed work, challenges, and upcoming priorities.
* Complete other duties and projects assigned by the supervisor or manager.

**Work Expectations & Accountability:**
---------------------------------------

Because live events operate on fixed timelines, reliability and communication are essential requirements of this position.

**Schedule & Work Location:**
-----------------------------

This is a hybrid position that includes both in-person and remote work.

Students are required to work in person (155 Mass Ave) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus one additional weekday to be determined based on their academic schedule and departmental needs. Remaining scheduled hours may be completed remotely, when appropriate and approved by the supervisor.

Students are expected to maintain their agreed-upon schedule throughout the semester and communicate in advance about any necessary changes.

This position also requires availability to work select evening events at The Red Room at Cafe 939 for content capture, promotion, and other event-related responsibilities.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:**
------------------------------------------

* Strong reliability and dependability are required.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
* Ability to work independently while remaining accountable to supervisors and the larger team.
* Demonstrated initiative and willingness to identify and pursue productive work without requiring constant direction.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet specific deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
* Creativity and enthusiasm for music, live events, marketing, social media, and audience development.
* Ability to receive direction and constructive feedback and apply it to future work.
* Ability to communicate professionally and confidently on behalf of Berklee and The Red Room.
* Familiarity with major social media platforms and current digital content practices.
* Basic computer and digital media skills required.
* Graphic design (Canva), photography, video editing, social media, or content creation experience is a plus.
* Previous promotion, marketing, live-event, or related experience is preferred but not required.
* Must be a collaborative team player who also works effectively and productively independently.

Reliability, initiative, communication, creativity, and accountability are fundamental to success in this role.

**Application Requirements - Important:**
