Summary
-------
Under general direction of the Tourism Director or designee plans, budgets, organizes, manages, directs and otherwise engages in functions related to the day-to-day operations of Piper’s Opera House, including event planning, rentals, programming, facility operations, and staff supervision. Ensures the facility is maintained and presented in a manner consistent with its status as a historic landmark and a key asset of the Virginia City Tourism Commission, and operates in compliance with applicable County, state, and federal regulations.

This is an advanced-level supervisory position within the tourism and marketing team, with primary responsibility for the operations of Piper’s Opera House. The incumbent works under general direction of the Tourism Director or designee. The incumbent exercises a high level of independent judgment, confidentiality, and leadership, and supervises assigned site staff and volunteers, including tourism assistants and facility maintenance personnel.
Qualifications
--------------
* Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to gain the required knowledge and abilities is:
* A high school diploma or equivalent. (An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university, or equivalent education, in business, public administration, marketing, tourism, finance, planning, hospitality, event management, or a related field is preferred.)
* At least two years of increasingly responsible experience in event coordination, venue management, hospitality, tourism, or related field of work, including responsibility for leading or supervising paid employees or volunteers, maintaining records, and providing direct services to the public.
* Possess and maintain a Nevada Driver License appropriate for vehicles and other equipment used.
* The ability to pass a criminal background investigation.
