Under direction, plans and coordinates multiple large and complex events; provides, organizes, coordinates, supervises, implements, and evaluates a wide variety of event related activities and facility use, including permitting and street closures citywide; acts as the liaison between the event organizer/promoter and City departments required to coordinate events; events include but are not limited to parades, festivals, sporting events, expos, meetings, banquets, performances, holiday celebrations, art shows, and filming events; ensures events are executed in compliance with policies and established procedures; reconciles billing for events; and performs related work as required. Skill in: • Planning, implementing, and marketing events; • Planning, organizing, directing, assigning, reviewing, and directing the work of others; • Negotiating and implementing contracts; • Handling disciplinary problems in a positive manner; • Identifying and resolving event related matters; • Performing mathematic calculations; • Exercising independent judgment and initiative without close supervision; • Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions and prioritize workload to meet deadlines; • Reading, writing, and comprehending the English language at a level necessary for effective job performance exercising correct English usage, vocabulary, spelling, grammar and punctuation; • Communicating effectively, tactfully, and positively in both oral and written form; • Operating and using modern office equipment and technology, including computers and applicable software; • Utilizing appropriate safety procedures and practices for assigned duties; • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and • Contributing effectively to the accomplishments of City goals, objectives, and activities: and • Delivering difficult information in a professional and diplomatic manner, offering solutions to remedy issues as appropriate.
