Events Specialist

Events Specialist (Part‑time 17.5 hrs/week)Join the Liberal Arts Advisement and Careers (LAAC) Center to support students in the College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences and the College of Humanities. ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute LAAC events, including New Student Orientation, Major Fair and College ShowcaseFacilitate regular outreach events such as monthly open houses to connect students with academic advisors, career directors, and center resourcesDesign and create promotional materials for students and facultyPlan and execute the annual convocation ceremonies for both colleges, coordinating with the FHSS Dean’s Office and the College of HumanitiesArrange accommodations and VIP services, as neededManage and train staff and volunteers on convocation assignmentsCollaborate with the LAAC Office Manager and student employees to create social media content for the CenterOrder office supplies, schedule rooms, manage calendars, and coordinate event budgets with the LAAC Office ManagerRequired QualificationsFirm commitment to the mission of BYUTwo years of related office work experience and/or progress toward a bachelor's degreeTwo years of experience with event planning and/or managing projectsA pleasant, mature, and professional demeanorAbility to coordinate and communicate clearly with teammates, faculty, and other stakeholdersAbility to handle difficult situations and customers appropriatelyComputer skills, including MS Office (especially Excel), and ability to learn new systems quicklyExperience formatting correspondence in response to email requests, faxes, memos, and directives from managementAttention to detail and knowledge of general office equipment (copier, scanner, shredder, etc. EEO StatementBrigham Young University is an equal‑opportunity employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
