Faculty Events Coordinator

Note: To be considered for this position, candidates must include a cover letter specifying their interest in and qualifications for this position. Maintains comprehensive oversight of Faculty, Guest, and Department recitals and masterclasses, including stage management, additional staffing, logistics, and equipment needs.Collects and gathers information from faculty contacts and distributes information to the relevant offices (including, but not limited to: the Live Streaming Specialist, the Recording Engineer, and staff in the Piano Technology Department).Assesses the requested needs for each event, escalating more complex events to the relevant departmental managers.Manages the setup, strike, and allocation of SMTD equipment for other non-supported events, including:Venue equipment (rehearsal chairs, music stands, etc. The schedule is set and determined 1 month in advance.During the spring-summer semester, provides onsite support and information collection for the public performances held by the MPULSE Summer Institutes.Manages the ticketing communications and distribution for the SMTD Commencement ceremony at the end of the Winter term.Works with the chamber faculty to post chamber rosters, performances, and forum schedules at the beginning of each term and updates any adjustments throughout the academic year.Ensures that performance and rehearsal spaces are used as scheduled and in accordance with SMTD policies and procedures.Promotes the proper use and care of venue equipment, furnishings, and production inventory.Reports venue damage, maintenance concerns, safety issues, and repair or replacement needs to the appropriate manager.Assist the Production Manager for Ticketed Events & Small Ensembles with large-scale productions, both in planning and onsite, as needed. Two years of professional stage management or performing arts event production experience is requiredAt least one year of demonstrated experience with leadership of peers or employees in a performing arts academic institution or other professional arts organizationBachelor's degree in music, performing arts administration, theatre production, event management, arts management, or a related field is preferred.Patience, affability and a high level of dependability and work ethicDemonstrated ability to remain calm and professional under pressureInitiative and willingness to work independently and as part of a creative teamMust be very detail-oriented and able to work on multiple projects with competing short and long-term deadlinesSuperlative communication skills in person, in writing, and on the phoneRoutinely moves large instruments and items weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various classroom and event needs Ability to work nights, evenings, and weekends as the event schedule requires A pre-employment background check must be conducted before a candidate may receive a firm offer of employment to a staff position at the University of Michigan.
