The Ice Park Program Manager plans, coordinates, and evaluates year round programs and events at the Holland Ice Park. This position develops new opportunities, supports existing programs, and manages programming within approved budgets. The Program Manager works with Parks & Recreation staff, downtown representatives, businesses, and community partners to create welcoming experiences that encourage participation and support an active downtown throughout the year.
Examples of duties
------------------
-Plan and coordinate summer events and activities that activate the Ice Park beyond the skating season.
-Plan and coordinate winter events and seasonal programming that complement skating activities.
-Support existing programs through scheduling, preparation, coordination, and evaluation.
-Develop new programs based on community interests, participation trends, available resources, and department goals.
-Prepare program and event budgets, monitor revenues and expenses, and adjust plans to remain within approved budgets.
-Maintain a year round programming calendar and coordinate facility use with department staff.
-Coordinate with downtown representatives, local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and community organizations on events, promotions, and partnerships.
-Work with marketing staff to provide accurate program information and support timely promotion.
-Coordinate staffing and volunteer needs with supervisors and provide direction during assigned programs and events.
-Communicate setup, equipment, maintenance, and operational needs to the appropriate staff.
-Assist with event setup, participant services, and event oversight.
-Track attendance, participant feedback, and financial results to recommend improvements.
-Promote a safe, welcoming environment and respond professionally to participant questions and concerns.
-Demonstrate the department’s core values of Integrity, Teamwork, and Purpose.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
--------------
-Experience planning or coordinating recreation programs, community events, hospitality activities, or similar services.
-Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines.
-Ability to prepare and monitor budgets and maintain accurate records.
-Strong communication, customer service, and relationship building skills.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, businesses, and community partners.
-Comfort using scheduling, registration, spreadsheet, and general office software.
-Experience coordinating staff or volunteers preferred.

This is a year round position averaging approximately 20–24 hours per week. Hours vary with the seasonal programming calendar and include evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. The position combines office planning with on site program and event responsibilities, including outdoor work in summer and winter weather.
