The City Growth Management Department is a pivotal public sector agency responsible for guiding and regulating the city's physical development in alignment with comprehensive planning objectives. This department manages land use, zoning regulations, urban design standards, and sustainable development initiatives to ensure orderly urban growth that balances economic, environmental, and community needs. The Planner position in the Land Development Division operates under general supervision to execute a broad range of planning functions essential for city development and land use management. This role involves reviewing planning and zoning applications, applying the City's Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code regulations, and preparing amendments and planning studies to support city initiatives related to land use, urban design, architectural standards, and environmental management. • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Urban and/or Regional Planning, Architecture, Economics, Environmental Management, Geography or Engineering plus a minimum of two (2) years of experience in planning and zoning • OR Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Urban and/or Regional Planning, Architecture, Economics, Environmental Management, Geography or Engineering plus a minimum of six (6) years of experience in planning and zoning • Experience writing technical reports • Advanced technical graphics skills • Some knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) • Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License and have and maintain an acceptable driving record
