Special Event Manager

The organization has grown from a small family foundation into a community-focused leader providing baseball-inspired academic and physical education after-school and summer enrichment programs. Friends of Baseball offers scholarships so young people can participate in local leagues and teams, and trains coaches to be positive mentors with the tools they need. The organization also supports high school players with their first work experiences, distributes equipment and gear, and undertakes field renovation projects and community events to increase access to the game. The Special Event Coordinator will collaborate closely with staff and community partners to ensure events are inclusive, well-organized, and impactful. Strong Communication skills, including clear writing, professional email etiquette, and confident interpersonal communication with diverse community members.Customer Service and Event Management skills to ensure positive experiences for guests, families, donors, and community partners.Event Planning experience or interest, with the ability to assist in timelines, logistics, and day-of execution for events of various sizes.Volunteer Management capabilities, including supporting recruitment, training, scheduling, and appreciation of volunteers.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing event needs.Comfort working in a hybrid environment, including occasional evenings or weekends for events.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic proficiency with office and online collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, spreadsheets, shared calendars).Interest in youth development, sports, education, or community engagement; familiarity with baseball or softball is a plus but not required.Commitment to creating inclusive, equitable, and welcoming experiences for participants and community members from diverse backgrounds.
