Jubilee Housing provides safe, decent and affordable rental housing to low-income families and individuals in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC. Jubilee Housing was founded in 1973 when volunteers from an ecumencial church, the Church of the Saviour, witnessed that poor families were being forced out of their homes. This group purchased an renovated two neglected and trash-ridden... apartment buildings in order to preserve the homes of its tenants. Jubilee Housing works collaboratively with other non-profits that offer job training, child care and medical care to residents. In this way the organization strives to follow Reverend Gordon Cosby's vision of a wholistic, supporting community in which the poor can achieve stability and financial self-sufficiency.
