DC Based Live Event Producer

Decibel Events Washington, District of Columbia

Producer

Decibel Events | Washington, DC | Full-Time

ABOUT DECIBEL EVENTS

Decibel Events (dB) is a full-service event production and management company based in Washington, DC. We create stunning live events for federal agencies, associations, and corporations throughout the US and abroad, from broadcast-quality general sessions and multi-day conferences to trade shows and city-wide festivals.

Our clients include the Library of Congress, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Department of War, Trane Technologies, and T. Rowe Price, and some have been with us for more than 15 years. We are experts at what we do. We work side by side with our clients to make every event seamless, and the work we put into preproduction is what our clients see onsite. We are a team of six, so everyone here has a hand in the work and a direct relationship with the client.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a full-time Producer to join our events team, reporting to Eric Bibbs, Senior Producer. You will own each event from the first planning call to the final cue. You'll lead discovery calls with the client, write the proposals, build the paperwork, hire the crew, and lead the team onsite. When the show needs a caller, you'll call it. When we're chasing new work, you'll help us win it. You’ll also support productions in our new Washington, DC studio, helping dB expand its podcast, video and content production capabilities

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Plan

·      Meet with clients to understand their goals, audience, budget, and what success looks like

·      Develop event concepts and production approaches with the client and the dB team

·      Build and manage production schedules and lead regular client calls from kickoff through load-out

Budget and Document

·      Build and manage event budgets, and write proposals, scopes of work, and pricing

·      Create show paperwork: run of show, cue sheets, crew schedules, and labor calls

·      Create or revise ground plans, stage plots, and room layouts in Vectorworks or CAD

Produce

·      Source and manage vendors, venues, and freelance crew, including federal facilities

·      Lead the production team through load-in, rehearsals, show, and strike

·      Call the show when needed, and back up our show callers on large general sessions

·      Support the operation of dB Studios, including podcast, video, virtual and hybrid productions; assist with studio setup, recording, switching, audio, lighting and client sessions as needed.

Grow

·      Mentor our production assistants

·      Lead the after-action review on your events

·      Support new business through proposals, site visits, pitches, and RFP responses

WHAT YOU BRING

Requirements

·      5+ years planning and producing live events, with deep experience in corporate, government, and association events in and around DC

·      Strong knowledge of DC venues, federal facilities, vendors, and labor

·      Experience managing budgets, proposals, vendors, and freelance crew

·      A solid understanding of audio, video, lighting, staging, and content

·      Excellent communication with clients, senior executives, government stakeholders, staff and crew

·      A flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

·      A valid passport

The X factor

Ever wonder what could set you apart as a candidate? That X factor. These fit the bill, and there could be others. Let your experience shine here and tell us more.

·      Showcalling: you've called shows and can jump in and take the headset

·      Vectorworks or CAD experience

·      A book of business or clients that want to move with you

·      Experience with federal clients or events in secure facilities

·      Experience operating a podcast, broadcast, livestream or video production studio, including familiarity with multi-camera production, audio mixing, lighting, video switching and virtual meeting platforms.

CMP certification

Decibel Events is dedicated to the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program. A current CMP is preferred. If you don't have one, Decibel Events pays for the program, and you must earn your CMP within one calendar year of your start date. The experience required for this role should qualify you for the CMP program immediately.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL

Our office and planning work happens in Washington, DC, and we're lucky to have a few local shows. The rest are national and international, so a passport is a must. You must live in the DC metro area or be willing to relocate. This role requires long periods on your feet, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs. This is a full-time position. Freelancers need not apply.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

$100,000 to $135,000, depending on experience.

·      CMP program paid by Decibel Events

·      Medical, dental, and vision stipend

·      Matching 401(k)

·      Flexible time off and paid holidays

·      Up to 2 remote days per week

·      Daily breakfast and craft coffee
