ABOUT DECIBEL EVENTS

Decibel Events (dB) is a full-service event production and management company based in Washington, DC. We create stunning live events for federal agencies, associations, and corporations throughout the US and abroad, from broadcast-quality general sessions and multi-day conferences to trade shows and city-wide festivals.

Our clients include the Library of Congress, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Department of War, Trane Technologies, and T. Rowe Price, and some have been with us for more than 15 years. We work side by side with our clients to make every event seamless, and the work we put into preproduction is what our clients see onsite. We are a team of six, so everyone here has a hand in the work and a direct relationship with the client.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a full-time Event Production Associate to join our events team, reporting to Eric Bibbs, Senior Event Producer. You'll work alongside our Producers on every phase of an event, from the first planning call to strike. You'll build the paperwork, track the budget, keep vendors on schedule, and run your part of the show onsite.

This is the role for someone who has coordinated great events and wants to learn how to produce them. This is L2 on the dB career path. Do this well and the path to Event Producer is right in front of you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Plan

Join client calls, take notes, and track action items and deadlines
Build and update production schedules, timelines, and task lists
Own client emails and coordination throughout the project lifecycle
Research venues, hotels, and vendors, and gather bids for Producer review

Budget and Document

Track event budgets, vendor quotes, invoices, and actuals against the approved budget
Draft show paperwork: run of show, cue sheets, crew schedules, contact sheets, and rooming lists
Manage registration, speaker information, and attendee communications in Cvent or similar platforms

Produce

Coordinate vendors, deliveries, and freelance crew schedules
Run a room, a stage, or a breakout onsite, and support the Producer through load-in, show, and strike
Support dB Studios sessions, including setup, client check-in, and recording

Grow

Learn showcalling, budgeting, and proposal writing from our Producers
Contribute to the after-action review on every event

WHAT YOU BRING

Requirements

2+ years coordinating events, meetings, or productions
Experience tracking event budgets and coordinating several vendors per event
Working knowledge of registration platforms such as Cvent and Accelevents
Strong organization and attention to detail
Clear written and verbal communication with clients, vendors, and crew
A flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
A valid passport

The X factor

Ever wonder what could set you apart as a candidate? That X factor. These fit the bill, and there could be others. Let your experience shine here and tell us more.

Experience at a production company, AV company, or event agency
Working knowledge of audio, video, lighting, and staging
Vectorworks or CAD experience
Federal or association events
Podcast, livestream, or video studio experience

CMP certification

Decibel Events is dedicated to the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program. Once you meet the CMP experience requirement, Decibel Events pays for the program and supports you through it.

You must live in the DC metro area or be willing to relocate. This role requires long periods on your feet, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs. This is a full-time position. Freelancers need not apply.

$52,000 to $75,000, depending on experience, plus dB commission.

CMP program paid by Decibel Events once you're eligible
