Areas of emphasis include on-going training of staff and other administrative duties. The Director should be proficient in all aspects of the Event Manager and Event Operations positions. Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of Event Sales, Event Planning, and Event ServicesDevelop and recommend the budget, marketing plans and objectives and manages within those approved plansMaintain or exceed budgeted sales and profits in all event areasDevelop and implement effective marketing plans for generating catering revenuesExperience evaluating each piece of event business to ensure business can be properly servicedMonitor sales performance of Event Sales ManagersAbility to put together creative and innovative menus based on skills of the kitchenWork closely with Chef on pricing specialty menusTrain, supervise and work with event staff, in order to solicit and book banquet and event functions, as well as the planning, merchandising and execution of the functionsWork closely with Event Services Manager and their team to create and ensure quality levels are being met on a daily basis as well as enhancing overall banquet set-upsLeads event team to build long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of hotel Event sales objectivesAdminister all phases of the event department, including but not limited to sales, planning, marketing, servicing and administrative proceduresCoach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds6 years or more of progressive hotel Event Sales and Planning experience (typically with Hyatt)Service oriented style with professional presentations skillsAt least 3 years experience in a senior role in Event Sales/Planning environmentHotel/Hospitality degree an assetMust possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom lineClear concise written and verbal communication skills in EnglishMust be proficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelMust have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skillsMaintain communications with Corporate Staff
