We are building our team in anticipation of a prospective award supporting a federal client in Washington, DC, and are identifying qualified candidates now so we can staff quickly upon contract start.
Position Summary
Blackberg Group is seeking an experienced Conference Planner to lead logistics and quality oversight for a high-volume conference and event support program for a federal client in Washington, DC. This person will own event execution end to end — from vendor selection through day-of delivery — across a range of meetings, conferences, and trade show exhibits.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and manage all logistics for meetings, conferences, and exhibits, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination
Oversee daily workload and deliverables within the conference services team and provide guidance to junior plannersReview event materials for quality and accuracy before client deliveryReview and approve vendor invoices; monitor spending against budget and applicable federal travel and procurement regulationsRecruit and manage speakers and consultants, including drafting and monitoring performance under consultant agreementsDesign exhibit layouts and coordinate supporting services (setup/teardown, drayage, audiovisual, signage, staffing)Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, vendors, and internal staffProvide occasional support to the client's dining and catering operations, including menu planning and front-of-house coverageRecommend process, staffing, or technology improvements that increase efficiencyRequired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certificationFive or more years of professional experience in event or conference servicesWorking knowledge of federal procurement and travel regulationsStrong budget management and vendor negotiation skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple concurrent events under pressure with a high level of professionalismPreferred Qualifications
Prior experience supporting the Department of the Treasury or another federal agencyExperience coordinating catering or dining operationsWork Environment & Schedule
This is an in-person position based onsite in Washington, DC, supporting a federal client at the Main Treasury Building and Freedman's Bank Building. Regular onsite presence is required.
